The Other is Present
New Human
(De)structure

In her art practice, Matilda Hallander's work studies the meaning of being human, our relation to other lifeforms, and our agency on the planet. The philosophical is central to her work, exploring where we draw the lines between robot, human, animal, plant and rock. In her most recent project, New Human, the material of human and robot are being merged, modified, transformed and dissected. In this audiovisual piece she urges us to question the high position in which we place ourselves over other lifeforms on the planet, as well as the lines we draw between the natural and the artificial.
